About
Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church is located on W 7th Ave. in Lexington, NC. The church was organized in April 1980 by five families. The first service was held in a building on Old Greensboro Road on April 13, 1980 and was led by
Rev. Bobby Parker.
Rev. Bobby Parker and wife Joan were called to pastor the church. The Parker family moved from Morganton to Lexington and pastored here for almost two years.
The Rev. Horace Shatley ministered the church for a few months in 1982.
In the last part of 1982, the Rev. Junior Ballew and wife Frankie were called to pastor. In October 2000, after 18 years of ministry, Rev. Ballew retired from Pilgrim Freewill Baptist.
In November 2000, Rev. James D. Messer Jr. and wife Juanita were called to pastor. They relocated from Gastonia and hope to be here until the Lord comes to take us all home.
